The Design and Technology Department has a dynamic staff, experienced in a range of design education, providing students with a diverse selection of creative pursuits. The staff provides strong, innovative direction to students, encouraging them to move from skill development to confident personal expression in their work, through a range of units.
Students start by studying a mandatory course - Technology - working with design projects from a diverse range of context areas and technologies such as:
- Timber
- Video Media
- Textiles
- Food
- Metals
- Model making
In Years 9 and 10 students can elect to undertake study in Design and Technology with a choice of 4 contexts from a range of design areas including:
- Architecture
- Automotive
- Engineering
- Fashion
- Food
- Furniture
- Interior
- Jewellery
In each unit students work to a design brief, learning to work independently conducting research and using appropriate tools, processes and materials to design and construct a quality product.
In Years 11 and 12 students have the choice of Design and Technology, in which their senior year is spent designing and producing their own product for a perceived need, and Hospitality.
Hospitality is a Vocational Education Course in which students are provided with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge related to the Hospitality Industry.
This is a dual accredited course with students working to develop competencies according to ATQF qualifications.
