Mathematics

The Mathematics curriculum is designed to excite, inspire and foster an understanding of the beauty and utility of mathematics. Department members are committed to:

  • challenging all students while remaining available for assistance and mentoring
  • stimulating interest in mathematics among all students, regardless of their career choices
  • preparing students who have an interest in mathematics for entry-level professional, mathematics-related employment and for advanced study

The department has a long history of outstanding results and an open staff room for students. Lunchtime tutorials by Year 12 students are run for the benefit of younger peers, and senior members of staff offer after school assistance.

The Department is well equipped with:

  • audio-visual equipment
  • computers
  • data projectors

Enrichment is programmed into all years and we have a remarkable record of involvement and achievement in various specialised competitions.

The Moriah Mathematics Club (E=M2C) meets weekly and involves enthusiastic students in mathematics beyond the classroom.

Assistance is also provided for the less able.
