A full-time Careers Coordinator is available for Parent and Student interviews covering career and post-school options, subject selection, Vocational Education & Training (VET) courses, New Apprenticeships, University, TAFE, Private Providers, Scholarships, Cadetships, Special Provisions and more.
Careers lessons are offered to Year 9 and 10 on career choice, job investigation, post-school courses, subject selection, applying for jobs and scholarships, computer generated resumes and interview folders and techniques.
Work Experience is organised for Year 10s. To commence their acclimatisation to the workforce, students themselves are encouraged to contact employers & companies. As well as lesson preparation, guidance from the Careers Coordinator is always available as required.
Year 11 and 12 students have the opportunity to choose from over 40 Vocational Education & Training (VET) subjects as part of their Preliminary and Higher School Certificate courses to receive both a school and industry qualification.
Year 12s participate in the annual Eastern Suburbs Careers Advisors’ Courses & Careers Expo where they have the opportunity to investigate their post-school preferences by questioning representatives from TAFE, Private Providers, Group Training organisations (which find apprenticeship positions) and Universities from New South Wales, interstate and overseas.
In addition to interview sessions, up-to-date Careers information is disseminated mainly via Careers Newsletters, daily messages, Year Meeting announcements, visiting speakers and CDs, videos and booklets available in the Careers Resource Room.
