Choosing Kehillat Moriah

Your Shule

If you have begun thinking about your child’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah, Kehillat Moriah - your shule and your children’s shule – can offer your family many wonderful advantages.

The Rabbi

Rabbi Aryeh Solomon, our College Rabbi for more than 30 years, is committed to making your simcha a special lifetime event that will bring joy and happiness to your family. Having conducted countless Bar and Bat Mitzvah ceremonies, Rabbi Solomon is sensitive to your needs and dedicated to making this day special for you. The Rabbi will personalise his address to your sons or daughters, ensuring that they will feel special.

An Intimate Atmosphere

The Kehillat Moriah Hugo Lowy Synagogue is a boutique shule. It fits 250 people in an intimate atmosphere, unlike many of the larger synagogues. Your family’s big day will not be shared with ufrufs (wedding call-ups) or other events. The synagogue is all yours, to enjoy in the company of the small community of regular worshippers.

You will feel at home in the Hugo Lowy Synagogue. It is the logical synagogue for your event. Your child had a Siddur or Tallit or Mitzvah celebration in this very synagogue and will feel comfortable and confident on this significant day.

Your Kiddush

Following the service you can have a wonderful Kiddush in one of two venues. The Simons Family synagogue foyer is ideal for smaller functions, while the Linz Family Performing Arts Centre provides a warm setting for a larger function. For those who want a sit-down meal, the Railea Moss Primary Hall is truly an ideal venue.
Kehillat Moriah accepts all kosher caterers with a recognised kashrut license. As well, for your convenience we have our in-house caterers, who are happy to provide you with menus for your Kiddush.
You will find that the cost of a Bar Mitzvah at Kehillat Moriah is significantly less than at most other Synagogues.

The Service

The service at Kehillat Moriah is user-friendly and meaningful. The Rabbi will encourage your children to lead parts of the service on both Friday night and Shabbat day.
Please contact Rabbi Solomon on (+61) 02 9375 1600 at any time to discuss your Bar and Bat Mitzvah needs.
