The Doctor Hans Kimmel Memorial Essay Competition is a signature Year 10 program at Moriah College that connects students with the stories and experiences of the Jewish community. As part of the project, students interview family or community members and research their personal histories, documenting stories of heritage, migration, resilience and identity. Over the past 50 years, the project has preserved more than 5,000 stories, creating a powerful archive that celebrates the voices and lived experiences of generations within the community.

The 2026 Hans Kimmel Community Archive is a powerful Moriah College initiative dedicated to preserving the stories that shape our community. Projects are securely stored in a restricted archive, accessible to families and researchers through the College Archivist, with opportunities for public display if agreed to. While these are high school research projects and may include personal testimony and varying interpretations, together they form an extraordinary tapestry of our shared past.  Be part of this incredible legacy. Help us honour the past, strengthen our community, and ensure these stories live on for future generations.
