Moriah College Redevelopment

STEAM Project update

A modification application has been made to the NSW Department of Planning Housing & Infrastructure for the Moriah College STEAM project - SSD-10352. The application was first approved in May 2021. The Modification Application will facilitate a range of internal and external design amendments. Changes include the reconfiguration of internal learning and teaches spaces, car parking and drop-off areas as well as changes to the York Road (Gate 4) entry, building façade and rooftop plant. The modifications will improve learning and teaching facilities within the school, internal traffic management and security arrangements. The proposed changes also respond to changes in building design legislation.

The proposal makes no changes to the approved student population, hours of use or number of car spaces.

More information will be found on the Dept of Planning Portal where modification documents will be able to be viewed by anyone (public), in January.

Community Consultative Committee (CCC)

Moriah College is embarking on a redevelopment of our Queens Park campus to enhance learning spaces and improve facilities for our students, staff, and the wider community.
As required by the conditions of consent for the project, we are establishing a Community Consultative Committee (CCC).

The CCC will provide a forum for local residents, landowners, businesses, stakeholder groups, Council, and Moriah College to:
Share information about the redevelopment
Discuss community feedback, issues, and opportunities
Help inform how we manage impacts and maintain strong community relationships during construction and beyond.

Expressions of interest are now open for:
Local residents and landowners
Local business owners and workers
Members of community groups or organisations with an interest in the redevelopment.
No special qualifications are needed — just a willingness to participate and a commitment to representing your local community or stakeholder group.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Community Consultative Committee (CCC)?
The CCC is an independently chaired committee that provides a forum for community members, Council, and Moriah College to discuss the redevelopment’s progress, share information, and raise issues or concerns directly with the College.

Why is a CCC being established?
The CCC is a requirement of the development consent issued by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. It aims to support ongoing, transparent engagement between Moriah College and the community during the construction and early operational phases.

How is the CCC different from the Queens Park Precinct, Community Reference Group & Bushland Management Group?
The CCC focuses specifically on issues related to the redevelopment project, construction impacts, and compliance with consent conditions.
The Community Group Meeting continues to operate as a broader forum for discussing the overall relationship between the College and the community, not limited to the redevelopment.

Who can join the CCC?
Local residents, landowners, workers, and representatives of community or stakeholder groups are invited to apply.

How can I apply to join the CCC?
Expressions of interest to join the CCC are now open and will close on Tuesday, 1 July 2025.
Please contact the Independent Chairperson appointed by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure at deborah@deborahpalmerconsulting.com.au

How often will the CCC meet?
The CCC is expected to meet quarterly or as needed during key project milestones.

Who chairs the CCC?
Deborah Palmer is the Independent Chairperson, appointed by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.  Deborah will lead the meetings and ensure discussions are constructive and inclusive.

Can I attend CCC meetings even if I’m not a member?
CCC members are formally appointed; however, meeting minutes will be published publicly and site visits or broader community updates may occur where appropriate.

Where can I find CCC meeting agendas and minutes?
Agendas, minutes, and updates will be made available on this page of the Moriah College website.
