Choosing Kehillat Moriah

The Shule

The Kehillat Moriah Hugo Lowy Synagogue offers a boutique Bar and Bat Mitzvah experience. Its intimate size and welcoming atmosphere ensure every family enjoys a unique celebration fully and individually. It fits 250 people and your family’s big day will not be shared with ufrufs (wedding call-ups) or other events. The synagogue is all yours, to enjoy in the company of the small community of regular worshippers.

The Rabbi

Led by Rabbi Dr Aryeh Solomon, College Rabbi of more than 30 years, your child can look forward to the caring and experienced guidance  of Rabbi Solomon, as well as a heartfelt personal address by the Rabbi on the day of your family's simcha. A longstanding devotee of the Moriah Family, Rabbi Solomon can assist in tailoring the event to each child and family.

THE SERVICE

The Kehillat Moriah service is inclusive and user-friendly for families and guests, with Bar and Bat Mitzvah children encouraged by Rabbi Solomon to participate in leading the service on both Friday night and Shabbat day.

"We were against an 'over the top' production of our children's Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and wanted a simcha that would have meaning for them. Years later, our guests still remark on the delight of Rabbi Solomon and how wonderful and warm the ceremonies and whole experiences were." Gil and Tessa Taylor

The Kiddush

The simcha continues with the family's choice of one of three locations for a kiddush or seated meal. The Simons Family Synagogue Foyer is ideal for smaller functions, while the Linz Family Performing Arts Centre provides a warm setting for a larger function. For those who want a sit-down meal, the Railea Moss Primary Hall is truly an ideal venue. Kehillat Moriah happily accommodates all kosher caterers with a recognised kashrut license, as chosen by the family and for additional convenience, offers an in-house catering service with a variety of affordable menus.

The Memories

Kehillat Moriah is home to the entire College family. We hope to share in your child's simcha by tailoring this significant event to your family.

Please contact Rabbi Solomon on (+61) 02 9375 1600 at any time to discuss your Bar and Bat Mitzvah needs.

History of the Hugo Lowy Synagogue

"We have had three Bar Mitzvahs at Kehillat Moriah and we would highly recommend it for any Bar or Bat Mitzvah. The intimate Synagogue filled with out family and friends created a very extraordinary occasion. Also, the warm attention and special words from Rabbi Solomon made our simcha extremely meaningful and personal. Moriah provided us with excellent venue options for our Kiddush after the service and we were able to have a wonderful celebration. We look forward to having our remaining Bat Mitzvah at Kehillat Moriah." Darron & Wendy Lonstein
